Editorial policy
Brilliant Spotlight aims to make explanations of light and seeing accurate, readable, and open about their limits. We distinguish established explanations from interpretation and correct mistakes when they come to our attention.
Accuracy and clarity
We check factual statements against appropriate reliable material before publication and take care not to make an explanation sound more certain than it is. Technical terms are explained where they help. We avoid presenting a simplified analogy as a complete account, and we revise wording when it could leave a misleading impression. Our articles are for general understanding, not professional or specialist advice.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made for their relevance and usefulness to readers, not to promise favourable coverage. Any sponsored or partner material will be clearly labelled so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee inclusion in an article, and editorial content is not presented as an endorsement.
Corrections and illustrations
If you spot a factual error or unclear passage, contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review correction requests and amend material where warranted, making important changes clear to readers. Some illustrations may be generated using artificial intelligence. Where such an illustration appears, it will be identified; images are not evidence for a scientific claim.
Seeing begins with the light around us
Light does not simply reveal a scene; it gives colour, edge, and depth their changing character. We take time to notice how.
